Bacolod City – Energy Development Corporation (EDC) helped clear roads in Valencia, Negros Oriental which were blocked by boulders after a landslide triggered by a series of earthquakes Monday morning.

Debonaire Mamhot, facility head of the Southern Negros Geothermal Project of EDC in Valencia, said the area, particularly in Sitio Cantiso, has already been cleared by their contractors.

“The area is now passable to vehicles but we continue to coordinate with the barangays and the local government of Valencia to monitor the situation,” Mamhot said.

He also said that all of EDC’s employees “have been accounted for and are safe.”
