Eight tribes to join Dinagyang opening salvo

EIGHT tribes will join the Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2019 Opening Salvo which kicks off 3 p.m. on Jan 11, 2019 from the New Freedom Grandstand on Muelle Loney Street, City Proper in Iloilo City.

The opening salvo provides a sneak preview of the Ati tribes competition on Jan. 27.

The tribes are Panayanon of Iloilo City National High School, Salognon of Jaro National High School, Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial National High School, Dagatnon of Ramon Avanceña National High School, Paghidaet of La Paz National High School, Hugponganon of Tiu Cho Teg-Ana Ros Foundation Integrated School, Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School, and Barriohanon of Bo. Obrero National High School.

Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) tribe committee chairperson Robert Alor said the tribes will perform in five areas – Freedom Grandstand, Capitol, Quezon-Ledesma, Aldeguer, and Plaza Libertad.

“I encourage everyone to witness the performances. Let us make the opening salvo livelier by cheering for your favorite tribes although their dance steps will just be simpler. They will save and give their best in the highlight,” Alor said.

Dinagyang legend Tribu Bola-Bola of Iloilo National High School and Tribu Miru of the Indigenous Community from Barotac Viejo and Anilao will be the guest performers during the highlight. (Merianne Grace Ereñeta/Iloilo City PIO)
