ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Around P400,000 worth of illegal drugs were recovered by police from a 28-year-old construction worker and his lady partner in a drug buy-bust operation Saturday evening at Angel Ville, Barangay San Jose here.
Police identified the suspects as Joy Valencia, 28, the subject of the operation; and Elmar Briol, a construction worker, and both residents of said barangay.
The duo yielded 15 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 60 grams; the P6,500 marked money and several drug paraphernalia.
The operation was conducted by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Capiz Police Provincial Office.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be filed against the suspects today, Sept 19, 2022.
Meanwhile, a 66-year-old man from Sitio Barosbos, Barangay Lonoy, Sapian, Capiz was arrested Saturday afternoon for illegal gambling in Sapian, Capiz.
Investigation by Sapian Municipal Police Station indicated that Vedasto Villanueva was caught in the act collecting bets for illegal gambling.
Recovered from Villanueva were several “cotejo” or bet lists, a ballpen, and P687 cash.
The suspect is facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 or Anti-Gambling Law. He is presently under the custody of Sapian Municipal Police Station.
