The collage of pictures depicting the activities and responsibilities of the agency and forming the acronym of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) won the grand prize for the logo making contest initiated by the DTI VI in celebration of the month-long Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) this October 2021.

Daren Kern G. Ecullada’s design bested all other entries submitted by each DTI Provincial Office in Western Visayas. He will receive a gift certificate (GC) worth P4,000. Ecullada, who hails from Jordan, Guimaras, is a student at Central Philippine University.

The entries of Joseph Tyler I. Raymundo from Antique and John Darene M. Dumaguete from Negros Occidental won second and third place, respectively. Raymundo will get P3,000 worth of GC, while Dumaguete will receive P2,000 worth of GC.

DTI VI Regional Director Rebecca M. Rascon lauded the initiative involving the students in coming up with a design to portray DTI VI’s observance of the CWM. “This will raise the awareness of students on the activities and programs of the DTI” Rascon said.

The logo making contest was open to all high school students aged 11 to 19 enrolled for School Year 2021-2022 in Western Visayas. A student-participant can only submit one entry.

The logo design must be original and shall then be used in the succeeding celebration of the CWM. All entries were submitted at the DTI Provincial Offices for screening and selection of one winner.

The winning entries at the provincial offices were forwarded to the regional office for the determination of the grand winner. The logo designs were evaluated based on creativity, originality, relevance and overall impact.

The non-winners at the regional level will receive a consolation prize of P1,000 worth of GC. The judges were Graphic/Layout Artist Roque John A. Latosa, Design Specialist Ares M. Balcarse and DTI VI Information Officer David Israel F. Sinay.
