‘DSWD-6 programs carried out sans political biases’

What political biases?

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-6 has stressed that the implementation of the agency’s program and projects are devoid of any prejudices and political color.

The DSWD-6 issued the press statement amid claims that the agency only favors those who are with the administration despite their qualifications or lack of it.

“We would like to assure the public that the DSWD Field Office VI maintains a neutral, non-partisan and non-political stand in the implementation of our programs and projects,” DSWD-6 regional director Atty. Carmelo Nochete said.

He added, “we strictly adhere to programs and service guidelines based on law and issuances. All beneficiaries are provided their needed assistance as long as they are qualified or eligible and funding is available.”

The DSWD-6 explained that they are utilizing the Listahanan database in identifying prospective beneficiaries for the 4Ps or Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, Sustainable Livelihood Program, and Social Pension Program.

Listahanan is a database that provides who and where the poor are in the country. This database is a result of an enumeration done on a house-to-house basis by DSWD-hired employees.

“In fact, the agency does not require the submission of a referral letter or endorsement letter from any official in the implementation of its programs and services,” Nochete said.

Even in the implementation of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), he added that the only requirement is a barangay certification as to residency or indigency, as may be applicable.

“Rest assured that we treat every Filipino equally regardless of political affiliation. DSWD Field Office VI remains steadfast in its commitment to serve the people, always bearing in mind that Bawat Buhay ay Mahalaga,” the statement added.
