BACOLOD City – The children of a couple will not pursue any charges against their mother for the death of their father following a scuffle inside their house at Barangay Zone 10, Talisay City, Negros Occidental last Monday.

The victim was identified as Rolly Mahinay, 57, of the said barangay.

Police Corporal Aljon Bautista, case investigator of Talisay City Police Station, said Mahinay arrived at their house Sunday evening and figured in an argument with his 53-year-old wife.

Bautista said Mahinay was drunk when he had an altercation with his wife.

“Basta makainom siya, gapanghaboy gid siya gamit according sa bata niya,” Bautista added.

Bautista said the couple was alone in their house when the incident happened, thus, nobody pacified them until Mahinay grabbed his wife’s hair.

Bautista said both of them fell to the ground. But Mahinay fell unconscious while his wife went to bed, assuming that her husband fell asleep because of drunkenness.

The following day, Mahinay’s wife woke him up but he did not respond. She thought that her husband was just asleep until a neighbor went to their house later that afternoon and discovered that the victim was already lifeless.

Bautista said the victim probably hit his head in the corner of the wall when they fell to the ground which rendered him unconscious.

“Wala man naglaum ang asawa na amo to matabo sa bana niya,” he added.

Bautista said the victim’s wife is suffering from a nervous breakdown, according to her children.

He said the couple’s children accepted the incident and considered it a pure accident.
