Drug suspect dead, partner injured in shooting

BACOLOD City – A suspected drug pusher died while his partner was injured in a shooting incident at Purok Cagaycay, Barangay 2 here Monday night.

Slain was Roberto Salvador, 50, of Barangay 3. His partner, Norma Tipon, 39, of Barangay 4 was wounded.

Police Major Sherlock Gabana, head of Police Station 2, said the victims were standing in the area when two unidentified armed persons wearing Halloween masks arrived and shot them.

The gunmen fled on board a motorcycle.

Police recovered from the scene bullet casings and deformed slugs of unknown caliber.

Gabana said Salvador died on the spot while Tipon was rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here.

Salvador had survived an attempt on his life months ago after he was also allegedly attacked by a person also engaging in illegal drugs, the station commander said.

Gabana said they are eyeing failed illegal drug transactions as possible motive of the incident, after they received reports about Salvador’s alleged involvement in the drug trade.

Gabana said they placed Salvador under monitoring for two weeks now after they received information about his alleged illegal drug activities.

Meanwhile, Gabana said they are also validating if Tipon is also involve in the illegal drug trade.

Police have no lead yet on the identities of the perpetrators.
