ROXAS CITY, Capiz – An upline of a “double your money” investment scheme is facing estafa charges for allegedly failing to return some P30 million worth of investment by several individuals in Brgy. Libas here.

Anamae Barroa of Brgy. Libas here is the subject of the complaint filed by several individuals after she failed to return or pay out the corresponding amount she promised will be doubled after 15 days.

But during the recent settlement called by Libas punong barangay Richard Arrojado, Barroa confronted the investors and told them that it’s impossible to return their investments after their chief executive officer (CEO) Josephine Ramos went missing.

A native of Brgy. Loctugan here, Barroa said the millions of pesos from the investors were with Ramos.

Barroa said that in June 2021, she received a Facebook notification enticing her to invest and double her money in 15 days.

Because of her sickly child, she was encouraged to invest P40,000. She was also asked to encourage others to invest in exchange for a 15 percent commission per investment.

Barroa managed to convince other investors and the transaction went on smoothly after Ramos paid them in specific time and days.

But in August 2021, Ramos failed to pay out the investors on a specific date in Brgy. Lawaan.

The investors told Barroa to return their money, but she said she does not have their investments. She assured that Ramos is still in Capiz.

The investors decided to file complaints against Barroa despite the settlement effort.

Barroa said she will face the cases against her.
