The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office No. 6 received two prestigious awards for implementing the Labor Inspection Program during the 2023 Labor Inspection Summit held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Metro Manila on February 9-10 2023.

The order of Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez Jr. to intensify the inspection program bore fruit when the DOLE Central Office awarded to DOLE-6 Plaques of Recognition for exemplary performance in the Labor Inspection Program.

The regional office was recognized for the High Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standard Compliance (Category A) and for the Effective and Efficient Management of Appealed Labor Standards Case Records (Category A).

For OSH compliance, DOLE RO 6 covered Three Thousand Seven Hundred Seventeen (3, 717) establishments which is around 103.3 % of its target. The Regional Office also delivered 87.71 % after compliance order rate.

Meanwhile, the complete case records and the timeliness of submission of documents earned the Regional Office the distinction for Effective and Efficient Management of Appealed Labor Standards Case Records (Category A).

Rodriguez said the awards will serve as inspiration and motivation for the Regional Office to continuously implement the labor inspection program and to maintain the degree of efficiency and effectiveness in all areas of labor inspection.

Upon assumption of office in August 2022, Rodriguez initiated the specialization of the Technical Services Support Division-Labor Relations/Labor Standards (TSSD-LR/LS) and TSSD-Employment Promotion and Workers Welfare (TSSD-EPWW) to focus on specific services.

He also took the lead in the conduct and served as resource speaker in the Regional Inspectors’ Forum to upgrade the Labor Inspectors on the latest issuances and to enhance their skills in Labor Inspection.
