The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 6 is currently undertaking the improvement/concreting of a diversion road that connects the towns of Mina and Badiangan in central Iloilo.

The project kicked off with the ceremonial groundbreaking held recently by DPWH-6 Regional Director Tiburcio DL Canlas, along with Iloilo 3rd district Rep Lorenz R. Defensor, Mayors Rey P. Grabato of Mina and Serafin S. Villa Jr of Badiangan.

Canlas said the ₱351.79-million Mina-Badiangan Diversion Road involves the improvement/concreting of a 10.77-kilometer, 12-intermittent section road from Mina to Badiangan. The road traverses 11 barangays.

The project also involves the concreting of the road from Brgy. Talibong Grande in Mina to Brgy. Mapili Grande in Badiangan which connects to the national road to Lambunao town.

This will complement the existing concrete road undertaken by the provincial government.

Existing gravel portion of the Mina-Badiangan Road to be improved and concreted by DPWH Regional Office 6.

“This (project) includes construction of 1-span, 30-meter Pre-Stressed Concrete Girder (PSCG) Type IV-B bridge on composite pile foundation with Approaches. It also includes construction of 2-lane, 3.35-meter wide Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP); and construction of slope protection and provision of road safety devices,” Canlas said.

“When this road is completed, travel time from Mina to Badiangan will be reduced, and access to basic government services will be easier and faster. This will provide easier access even to far flung barangays of Badiangan and provide alternate route from Mina to Lambunao,” he added. (DPWH-6)
