Depression allegedly forced a man to kill his 6-year-old son morning of May 18, 2022 in Numancia, Aklan.

The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Clifford, a resident of Barangay Bubog, Numancia, the area where the incident happened.

After stabbing his son, the suspect allegedly tried to take his own life by stabbing his abdomen.

Prior to the incident, the suspect allegedly fetched his son from his parents-in-law’s house at Barangay Laguinbanua East, Numancia, Aklan.

He then took the boy to his parents’ house at Bubog village.

Master Sergeant Felizardo Navarra Jr., Numancia police investigator, said the suspect and his son went to the bedroom where he stabbed the latter twice in the left side of his chest.

The victim’s grandmother took the boy to Dr. Rafael S. Tumbukon Memorial Hospital in Kalibo but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect was also taken to the same hospital for his self-inflicted stab wound.

Navarra said the victim also tried hanging himself from a double-deck bed. But he failed as the bed was too short for his height.

According to reports, the suspect, who works as a technician for a cable company, had been suffering from depression after his policewoman-wife left him.

The woman claimed they constantly fought because the suspect got jealous while she was away for her Basic Internal Security Operation Course (BISOC) training.

The suspect also physically abused her, the woman added.

Navarro said the suspect’s wife is bent on filing parricide case against the suspect.
