DBM releases over P419-M to PSA for PHILSYS workers

Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman approved on March 23, 2023 a Notice of Cash Allocation (NCA) amounting to P419,690,970 to the National Economic Development Authority–Philippine Statistics Authority-Central Office (NEDA-PSA-CO), for the payment of first quarter wages for the registration officers hired as Contract of Service Workers (COSW) relative to the implementation of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

On 7 March 2023, the PSA submitted a request for the issuance of additional cash allocation for the salaries of its COSW for January to March 2023. Upon initial evaluation, the DBM found out that there is a lacking relevant supporting document in PSA’s submission. But upon receiving the lacking document from the PSA on 16 March 2023, the DBM then immediately processed the approval of the request.

“We give prime importance to the timely release of salaries of government personnel. Alam po natin na mahalaga ito sa buhay ng ating mga public servants, gayundin ng kanilang pamilya. Rest assured po that as long as we receive the necessary requirements for such requests, DBM will immediately process,” Secretary Pangandaman said.

Funding requirements relative to the implementation of the PhilSys has already been comprehensively released by the DBM. Additionally, the DBM has released the Q1 cash allocation requirement of the PSA in line with its Monthly Disbursement Program submission.

“Consistent with our digitalization efforts, we fully support the implementation of the National ID System, as we believe this will accelerate our transition to a digital economy. This will promote a more convenient, inclusive and accessible delivery of services, and shall likewise bring technological transformation in the country,” Sec. Pangandaman said.
