The Central Philippine University (CPU) Golden Lions and team Phat Ass continued to dominate in the 2022 On D’ Move Sinadya Basketball Cup and are the only undefeated teams after five games.

Both the Golden Lions and Phat Ass swept their recently concluded weekend games scheduled last November 26-27 held at the Capiz Gymasium and the Dinggoy Roxas City Civic Center.

Heading to their grueling back-to-back game schedule with a 2-0 record, the Golden Lions once again banked on their team chemistry and well-orchestrated defensive schemes.

CPU got the better of team Leprechauns Iloilo in their first game, 116-94, and racked their second-straight win against Eigon Elite, 113-88.

Wilmer Dalumpines was a man on a mission against team Leprechauns and remained consistent with his flawless two-way plays.

The athletic combo guard from the Golden Lions won another Best Player of the Game award after dropping an insane stat line of 25 points, six rebounds, and six assists.

Team Leprechauns was within striking distance after Inno Miclat heated up early in the third quarter but CPU’s high-octane offense helped them pull away and bag another win.

It was a different scenario against team Eigon Elite as the youngsters from Capiz went toe-to-toe with CPU’s younger forwards.

However, team Eigon lost gas and couldn’t withstand the Golden Lions’ balanced offense led by scoring guard Kevin Barranco who top-scored the game with 26 points, five steals, and three rebounds.

Meanwhile, team Phat Ass had to go through the grinder in their first game after a nip-and-tuck affair against MBM Construction.

Phat Ass pulled away late in the second half to go home with an 88-79 win with Bourama Niambale leading the way after a dominant double-double performance of 15 points and 17 rebounds.

In their second scheduled game, Phat Ass handed team Leprechauns a demolition exhibition, 130-87, to end their week with a 5-0 win-loss record.

It was all Phat Ass from the get-go as their quick guards overwhelmed the Leprechauns squad led by Matmat Co who was firing from all cylinders.

The bruising veteran was hailed as the match’s Best Player of the Game after a 19-point performance alongside six rebounds.

Meanwhile, in the other games, team MBM bounced back against Ivisan, 104-80, while team Dolce Via crushed team Corgchi, 137-90.
