Two cousins were killed in a vehicular incident early afternoon of Jan 28, 2022 in Sara, Iloilo.
Police identified the fatalities as Ramie Hervas, 35, a resident of Barangay Gildore, Sara, and Philip Hervas, 23, of Barangay Labigan, Sara.
Both Ramie, the motorcycle driver, and his cousin – back rider Philip – were believed to be drunk when the incident happened. They came from Balasan town and were heading back to Sara.
As they were passing through Barangay Aldeguer, Ramie apparently lost control of the motorcycle causing it to go wayward and scaled the road’s center island.
Major Jose Nemias Pamplona, Sara police chief, said the motorcycle was running on high speed as it even crossed the opposite lane.
They then hit the rear tire of another motorcycle that was traversing on the opposite lane.
Luckily, the driver Robert Zaragosa and his wife, Mary Grace Zaragoza, both residents of Barangay Pasi, San Dionisio, Iloilo, only suffered minor injuries.
Ramie and Philip suffered head injuries and were rushed to Sara District Hospital where they were declared dead on arrival.
The Zaragozas were declared outpatients after they were treated for minor scratches.
