A couple was arrested in a police anti-illegal drug operation in Banate, Iloilo on Nov 14.

Police said Mark Anthony Aparri, 39, of Barangay Burgos Regidor, Dumangas, Iloilo and his live-in partner, Sheryl Elinon, 32, who hails from Calatrava, Negros Occidental, allegedly connived in selling illegal drugs.

Members of the Banate Municipal Police Station led the buy-bust operation at Barangay Managupaya, Banate.

Lieutenant Dandy Ilato, Banate police chief, said the couple sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P1,000 to a police poseur buyer.

When frisked, the couple yielded five more sachets of suspected shabu.

The seized drugs were valued at P41,000.

Ilato said the couple has been monitored to be involved in the illegal drug trade since July.

While they are staying in Dumangas, their areas of distribution are Anilao, Banate, and Janiuay.

The suspects have no previous arrest and allegedly sourced their supply from Bacolod City.

They allegedly asked a 17-year-old person to bring the supply to Dumangas. In turn, they gave the teenager P2,000 per transaction.

The two suspects are now detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
