BACOLOD City – Police released on Monday the name of a man who was found buried under a tower at Purok Katilingban, Barangay Vista Alegre here last Sunday.

Police Captain Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 7, identified the victim as Alex Soberano, 51, of Barangay Tangub here.

Bonilla said that Soberano’s family went to the funeral parlor late Sunday afternoon and claimed his remains.

Bonilla said that Soberano’s child reported to the police on July 26 that his father was allegedly abducted at the airport in Silay City on July 22.

However, police were not able to follow-up the case since Soberano’s family took four days to report the incident.

Soberano’s child was supposed to fetch his father at the airport when he saw him allegedly being dragged into a Toyota Innova.

Bonilla said that his child tried to chase the sports utility vehicle, but he failed to pursue them.

“Kadasig kuno abi ka salakyan, wala niya na nalagas,” he added.

Eight days after the alleged abduction, Soberano’s decomposing body was found after a farmer, who was supposed to get his carabao in the area, noticed a foul odor.

Bonilla said they could not yet establish the motive of the killing.

He, however, said they do not discount the possibility that it could be drug-related since Soberano was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 27 here in 2012.

He was released from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City eight months ago, the station commander added.
