BACOLOD City – The son of a police officer from La Carlota City, Negros Occidental was named after the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Patrolman Jose Roquero Castillon Jr., 29, and wife Jemima Montalvo Castillon, 36, named their second baby John Covid.
The baby weighing 3.1 kilograms was born on April 8, 2020 at Valladolid District Hospital.
Castillon, being one of the frontliners in combating COVID-19, said their baby’s name “John” means God is gracious and merciful. He said they added COVID, since their baby was born amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I want to thank the Lord for keeping us safe and our baby from COVID-19,” he said.
Castillon is assigned at Police Station 6 here and deployed to a check-up point along Bangga Cory in Barangay Mansilingan here. His wife is a part time Teacher of La Carlota City College.
He said that he is currently on a paternity leave, and we will be back to work on Thursday. The couple’s first child is also a boy.
