BACOLOD City – A personnel of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here was again accused of assaulting a taxi driver who also happened to be a person with disability (PWD).

Police Major Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8, said 54-year-old Roque Tome Jr., reported on August 10 that a policeman punched him following a traffic accident at Barangay Singcang-Airport here that day.

The complainant’s taxi bumped the cop’s car which led to the incident. The cabbie was apologetic but the cop allegedly would have none of it.

“Na atrasan ni kuno ka biktima ang salakyan sang police tapos mangayo ni tani pasaylo ang biktima pero ginsakit daw siya ka police,” Puerto said.

Puerto said Tome presented a medical certificate indicating the injuries he suffered from the alleged assault.

Puerto said he advised Tome to file a complaint before the Internal Affairs Service.

In May this year, the same policeman was also accused of allegedly assaulting his employee due to the alleged delay in the roasting of lechon.

The officer runs a lechon or roast pig business.

The Provincial Internal Affairs Service (PIAS) has already conducted a fact-finding investigation to verify the allegation against the policeman with the rank of Police Staff Sergeant and detailed to the General Services Unit of Nocppo.

Puerto said that last year, two minors also filed the same complaint against the cop, but the latter was able to settle the matter.
