Construction worker, student fall in P204K drug sting

Two persons were arrested in a police anti-illegal drugs operation evening of July 8, 2022 in Molo, Iloilo City.

Police identified the suspects as Gregor Bronto, 27, a construction worker, and Joshua Doromal, 21, a student, both residents of Barangay Rima Rizal, City Proper, Iloilo City.

Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU-6) and the Iloilo City Police Station 4 caught the suspects at 7:15 p.m. of Friday at Zone 2, Barangay North Baluarte, Molo after selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P10,000.

Recovered from the duo were 24 sachets of suspected shabu, the P10,000 marked money, and several non-drug items.

Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Benitez, Jr., RPDEU-6 chief, said the seized drugs weighed around 30 grams and has an estimated standard drug price worth P204,000.

Benitez said the two suspects are classified as street level individual (SLI) drug personalities.

While Bronto has no drug-related offense in the past, Benitez said he was incarcerated for a theft case.

He was also arrested for possessing a knife while the country was on election gun ban.

Meanwhile, Doromal is a senior high school student and had no known previous criminal records.

Both suspects are now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
