Comelec deposits source codes for 2022 polls in BSP vault

Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Executive Director Bartolome J. Sinocruz Jr. successfully transfers to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) two metal boxes containing source codes for the May 2022 national and local polls. The turnover was witnessed by senior officials of the BSP, COMELEC, and the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting.

Under Republic Act No. 9369 or “The Election Automation Law,” the COMELEC is mandated to deposit the Automated Election System (AES) source codes in escrow with the BSP.

Pursuant to the escrow agreement signed on Jan 31, 2022, COMELEC has deposited the AES source codes for safekeeping in a high-security vault at the BSP complex.

“The BSP is pleased that the turnover of the source codes has been completed. We are one with the COMELEC in ensuring the peaceful, orderly, and credible conduct of the 2022 elections,” said BSP Managing Director Guerrero.

“The BSP is fully supportive of an upcoming elections that demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, for the benefit of all Filipinos,” added BSP Governor Benjamin E. Diokno.
