NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – The local government employees of San Carlos City as well as teachers were given priority as part of A4 category of the local government unit’s (LGU’s) vaccination roll out with 300 Sinovac shots dedicated for them.

Dr. Jessa Tiapon, Emergency Operations Center- Vaccine Cluster (EOC-VC) Deputy Vice-Chair said they prioritized the LGU employees and teachers for the one-day vaccination, August 31, as they comprised the biggest population among the A4 priority group.

Tiapon added that they are planning to extend the vaccination for a few hours after the designated cut off time or on a weekend to achieve a high percentage of vaccinated individuals under said group since these are working sectors.

San Carlos EOC data showed that 11 percent of the target 138,000 population were already inoculated.

Tiapon urged individuals especially those belonging to the A2 priority groups (senior citizens) and A3 (adults with comorbidity) as well as those in the A4 categories to get their shots as confirmed positive cases in the city increase that is probably caused by the Delta variant.

“Avail the free vaccines as part of helping the community and achieving herd immunity,” Tiapon said.

An offsite vaccination was also held at Brgy. Palampas Covered Court to cater to residents of Barangays Palampas, Punao and Bagonbon as said places showed low accomplishments in terms of vaccination with about 300 shots for the three barangays. (PIA)
