ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Roxas City government has assured support to the micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) here.

During the opening of the 2019 MSME Week Trade Expo on July 11, 2019, Mayor Ronnie Dadivas pledged his support by including business and employment in his seven-point development agenda.

Dubbed as “Negosyo and Trabaho” program as part of his executive development agenda, Dadivas said he has included support programs to the growing business climate here.

In his message read by his wife Joanne R. Dadivas, the mayor said that the Business One-Stop-Shop will be enhanced to ensure ease and comfort of doing business.

“The Business Licensing and Treasurer’s Offices will be linked for faster and more transparent business transactions. A comfortable tax payers’ lounge will be provided,” the message said.

The city government will also introduce the issuance of a provisional business permit for those who lack minor requirements, subject to the completion of requirements in a specific period.

“I just want a new business to open right away because I understand the excitement and the drive of a new business owner. I also know that small businessmen who have put in their hard earned money as capital must earn it back as soon as possible,” Dadivas said.

The mayor said that a Business Master plan that is not dependent on “who is holding office” will be crafted as “political climate change proof.”

He added “I will extend micro financing to be used for the expansion of your business. I will forge Partnerships with TESDA and DTI in promoting skills training, employment and entrepreneurship programs.”

Dadivas said he will require a 70/30 ratio for job prioritization, which means that for every business that would open in Roxas City, 70 percent of its labor requirement must be given to the residents here.

Per record, the mayor said Roxas City at present has almost 2,500 registered businesses and contributes 50 percent to the city’s total local revenue source.

“The MSMEs contribute greatly to local economies by bringing growth and innovation to the community in which the business is established,” Dadivas said, citing that these businesses help stimulate economic growth by providing employment opportunities to the people. (PIA)
