Ceres Cup shootfest on Nov.30 – Dec.2

BACOLOD City – The 1st Ceres Cup Invitational shootfest is slated on Nov.30-Dec.2.

About 100 gun enthusiasts in Visayas are joining the competitions.

The inaugural staging of the Ceres Cup shootfest aims to promote the mental and physical well-being of participants as well as responsible and safe gun-handling, organizer Leo Rey Yanson, who is the Vallacar Transit, Inc. Chief Executive Officer and president, said.

Yanson is also a sports patron and owner and CEO of the multi-titled Ceres Negros Football Club.

Raymund Jacomille, District 7 manager of the Philippine Shooters and Match Officers Confederation, said the event is a PSMOC-sanctioned Level 1 tournament that offers 12 major trophies to the top finishers in the six-division contest for both men and women shooters.

The PSMO District 7 covers the provinces in Negros, Panay and Guimaras.

Jacomile said that the three-day, five handgun-stage contests will happen at the Negros Sports Exchange Shooting Range along Circumferential Road in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

Competitors are required to fire a minimum of 110 rounds to complete their participation, he explained.

At stake are the championship trophies in the unlimited guns with extended magazines and optics, stock high cap with more than 8 rounds of magazines, single stack standard guns, double action striker fired guns, limited 10 and revolver divisions, all both in the men and women’s categories.

Jacomille added that special awards will also be given to the ladies’ division, lawmen (for men in uniform), super seniors for entries aged 60 and above on the day of the competition and the seniors’ contest for participants 50 to 59 years old.
