BACOLOD City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) turned over a P100,000 cash incentive to a centenarian in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.

This is on top of the P100,000 cash gift that Herminigilda Barredo- Donasco initially received from the provincial government in November last year.

She is a widow and a resident of Barangay Damgo, who turned 100 years old on April 18, 2022.

Donasco has five children, now all senior citizens, with ages ranging from 61 to 71.

Aside from the cash incentive, she also received a felicitation letter from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which was personally handed to her by the DSWD at her residence.

The giving of a P100,000 cash gift to centenarians is mandated by Republic Act No. 10868, or the ‘Centenarians Act of 2016.
