Cebu Pacific, JPMAP-National bring Christmas cheers to elderly

Cebu Pacific and the Junior People Management Association of the Philippines (JPMAP), a national youth organization, jointly fulfilled a gift-giving program where they provided food, sanitary supplies, medicines, and cash donation to the San Lorenzo Ruiz Home for the Elderly.

More than 40 resident-elders aged 63 to 103 years old were present in the gift-giving program. Aside from the donation, the program included games, performances, warm greetings and messages, and refreshments, making it a fun and happy Christmas celebration for the elderly.

There are many elderly people who are abandoned, or not given enough care and support. In the home for the elderly operated by The Little Sisters of the Poor located in Pasay, they are given respect, dignity, and care by the nuns that provide them food, medicines, and other personal needs, through the help of donations.

“The pandemic has brought many challenges to everyJuan, most especially to vulnerable communities such as the abandoned elderly. Our employees wanted to share their blessings, love, and joy this Christmas,” said Carmina Romero, Cebu Pacific Director for Corporate Communications.

Cebu Pacific employees were able to raise PHP159,000 and donated the amount to the home. CEB also reached out to sponsors such as Universal Robina Corp. to provide snacks, Unilab to give vitamins and health essentials, Bayan ni Juan Movement for sacks of rice and food items, and Unitrade Merchandise Inc. for adult diapers.

“It was a fulfilling and memorable event for all of us that we’ll forever cherish and use as motivation for our future events. Seeing the genuine smiles of our dear lolos and lolas made all our efforts worth it and triggered the flame inside of us to do even better to help more in the future,” said Cherel Iglesias, chairperson for CSR of JPMAP-National.

The San Lorenzo Ruiz Home for the Elderly expressed gratitude for the assistance and care that the donors gave to the residents.

“We appreciate everyone for their efforts. We are encouraging people to help, volunteer, and give monetary donations, which will be a great help in paying our electricity bills,” Sister Edwina, Sister in charge for Outreach.
