A 30-year-old man knifed his mother-in-law to death at the latter’s house in Jaro, Iloilo City evening of Aug 21, 2022.

Richard Claud, a resident of Telecom Compound, Barangay Quintin Salas, went to the house of Teresa Himar, 57, in the same village around 9 p.m. to visit his two children

Teresa’s daughter who is Claud’s wife is working abroad.

The couple has not been on good terms with each other, prompting the wife to leave their two children to her mother’s care.

Claud was allegedly drunk when he went to Himar’s house. While inside, Claud lit a cigarette.

Teresa’s son, Raymond John Himar, 28, cautioned the suspect against smoking inside the house.

But Claud flared up and told the victim, “Pang-ubuson ta kamo tanan (I will eliminate all of you).”

He then drew a knife and stabbed Teresa in the right portion of the abdomen and left breast.

Claud also stabbed Raymond John on his left shoulder and chin.

The assailant also attacked Raymond’s two brothers and their cousin

Rish John Himar, 20, was hit on the right arm while 16-year-old JR (not his real name) was stabbed on the left portion of his body.

Their cousin, Denmark Himar, 32, went to the house to pacify Claud but he, too, got stabbed on the left arm.

Claud fled on board his motorcycle while the five victims were taken to West Visayas State University Medical Center for treatment.

But Teresa did not pull through.

Captain Eduardo Siacon, Iloilo City Police Station 3, said the suspect was not arrested during the hot pursuit operation.

Claud later turned himself in to Oton Police Station around 9 a.m. of Aug 22.

He is now detained at the lock-up cell of ICPS3 and will be charged with murder and frustrated murder.
