Filipino gymnastics sensation Carlos Yulo capped off his FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup campaign with a bronze medal win in the parallel bars category last February 26, 2023, held in Cottbus, Germany.

Yulo’s attempt to make up for his loss in the vault and the floor exercise became a success after pulling off a convincing routine in the final round of the parallel bars.

The 23-year-old superstar tallied 15.166 points for the third-place finish behind Illia Kovtun of Ukraine and Italy’s Matteo Levantesi.

Kovtun snagged the gold medal after scoring 15.366 while the Italian gymnast finished the final round with 15.266 points.

It was Yulo who was leading in the qualification round after registering 14.933 points but Kovtun and Levantesi were able to break through in the championship round.

Yulo, who was expected to top the floor exercise in the event, only settled for a 20th-place finish with a score of 13.400.

It was in the floor exercise that Yulo first introduced his name in the world championships after winning a couple of gold medals in the last three years.

During the rings category, Yulo improved his tournament ranking to no. 13 after scoring 13.833 points and no. 14 in the vault after tallying 14.083 points.

Yulo will have the chance to reclaim the gold medal when he takes on the challenge of the 2023 Doha World Cup from March 2-5 to be held in Qatar.
