THE CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI) has organized another study tour on August 16, 2019 in Cauayan City, Isabela. It was attended by eleven media practitioners from different media organizations in Cagayan Valley.
The tour aims to share the role of the social development sector in eradicating poverty.
“We are grateful for the support of media practitioners from Cagayan Valley. Knowing that communications play a crucial role in development, we value the support of media practitioners in informing and educating the general public about programs that could improve the lives of Filipino families,” said Cyrene Grace DC. Lubigan, CARD MRI Publishing House General Manager.
Lubigan also acknowledges the contribution of media in the continuous growth and success of the institution.
The media practitioners were able to observe activities during a center meeting of members and interview a client from CARD MRI Rizal Bank, Inc. (CARD RBI), a microfinance-oriented rural bank under CARD MRI.
Moreover, the study tour for media coincided with the Kaunlaran Caravan held at the same province wherein media practitioners were able to witness several activities being done under the said event. The Kaunlaran Caravan is a regular activity of CARD MRI, where various community development activities are conducted to provide programs and services such as healthcare and wellness, financial literacy, product development, among others to the local community.
A media briefing was also facilitated by CARD MRI where media participants were able to ask questions to selected key officers of CARD MRI.
“We are glad that we are given the opportunity to meet our media partners and introduce the programs and services of CARD MRI to the communities we serve. I hope that our mission to eradicate poverty is worth sharing to the general public,” said Ma. Adoracion M. Ola, CARD RBI Assistant Vice President for Operations.
According to Reymar Olibas, News Correspondent of The Northern Forum Cagayan, it helped him to see and understand that CARD is beyond microfinance.
Olibas also expressed his thanks for the experience he gained from the study tour.
Apart from acquiring knowledge about microfinance, participants also took the opportunity to explore the historical places in Ilagan City.
To date, CARD MRI already conducted 13 Lakbay Aral and participated by more than 50 media representatives nationwide since its activation in 2013.
