ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The police officer who was shot and stabbed dead last week in Caloocan City, Metro Manila arrived here on March 30, 2019.

Lee Christian Castro said the body of his brother PO2 Chris Robert Castro arrived via a roll on-roll off ship at Caticlan port in Allan.

The remains lie in state at their parents’ house in Brgy. Libas here while the interment has yet to be announced.

The family hopes that justice will be given to the fallen police officer.

Late last week, National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) chief, Police Director Guillermo Eleazar, assured justice to the family of PO2 Castro, who was killed by unidentified suspects inside his house in Caloocan City.

In a radio interview by DyOW Bombo Radyo-Roxas recently, Eleazar said that Castro had a good track record and was dedicated in his job as a police officer. He said that there was a possibility that the suspects were gun for hire engaged in illegal drug trade.

Eleazar added that in 2016, Castro was an investigator when three suspects engaged in illegal drug peddling were arrested. The three suspects warned Castro before they posted bail for their temporary liberty.

Castro from Brgy. Libas here, was gunned down by two unidentified suspects on March 23 inside his rented house in Caloocan City, Metro Manila.

He succumbed to gunshot wounds in different parts of his body and two stab wounds on his back.

According to the victim’s wife Melanie Catalan Castro of Panitan, Capiz, she left her husband who was feeding their 4-year-old son

When she came back, she saw her husband on the floor with blood oozing from his body. She said she immediately brought her husband to the nearest hospital but the attending physician declared him dead on arrival.

Police investigation indicated that the two suspects arrived and asked to buy something from Castro’s store. One of the suspects immediately shot him with a gun with unknown caliber while the other stabbed him twice with a knife.

Police said that the motive of the incident would be illegal drugs after the victim arrested a suspected drug peddler in their area.

Meanwhile, Castro’s family appealed for help from President Rodrigo Duterte for the speedy apprehension of the two suspects.

According to Lee Christian Castro, her brother received several awards from the Philippines National Police for his dedicated and honest public service when he was assigned to Manila Police District Tondo Police Station 1.
