ROXAS CITY, Capiz More than 147,000 students are already enrolled in the different public schools in the Division of Capiz.
These students are in the 471 kindergarten, elementary and secondary public schools under the Capiz Schools Division.
Capiz Department of Education Superintendent Dr. Roel Bermejo said in a radio interview here that the number of enrollees is expected to rise because there are still students who are enrolling despite the start of classes last June 3.
They are also still accommodating transferees and late enrollees to give every child the opportunity to be in school, he said.
He also noted that so far, there are more than 6,500 teachers in the Division who attend to the students, however, about 100 more teachers will be hired to teach especially in the Senior High School.
Bermejo said that per their monitoring in the various schools here through its Oplan Balik Eskwela Operation Center, the opening of classes was generally peaceful as classes started as scheduled.
The Operation Center caters to some concerns of students and parents to include some inquiries related to the availment of senior high school voucher program, transfers and collection policies, among others.
He also thanked all those who helped in the implementation of the week-long Brigada Eskwela that made schools ready for the opening of classes.
He also reiterated that they are strictly enforcing the No Collection and Child Protection policies in schools. (PIA-Capiz)
