ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The province of Capiz only has 17 active cases of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Based on the data released by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) Monday afternoon, the 13 active cases are in Roxas City, 2 in Maayon, and 1 each in Sigma and Tapaz.

The province has recorded 1,307, including 1,227 (93.88%) recoveries, and 63 (4.82%) deaths.

Despite the declining number of active cases, the PHO reminded the public to follow health protocols to prevent the spread of the disease.

Meanwhile, medical frontliners and workers of the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) are first to receive the 650 vials of Sinovac vaccine that were delivered to the province of Capiz on Monday.

Governor Esteban Evan Contreras formally received the vaccines delivered by the Department of Health (DOH) regional office.

Contreras said RMPH is the COVID-19 dedicated hospital in the province of Capiz.

He added that he will ask for more vaccines for the workers of district hospitals and private hospitals here.

The screening will be done immediately to ensure that the medical frontliners of RMPH are ready for the vaccination.

Contreras is hoping that the vaccination of medical frontliners will start today.
