Capiz hospital supports Family Welfare Program

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Capiz Field Office conducted an orientation on the Family Welfare Program at Calpis Emmanuel Hospital, Inc. last January 17, 2019.

DOLE-Capiz OIC head Ma. Cecilia S. Acebuque, FWP Focal Person Ridan Casidsid, and Senior LEO Wilfredo Santizo oriented the Capiz Emmanuel Hospital, Inc. department heads and union officers on the reactivation of their FWP, which needs a new set of Family Welfare Committee (FWC) officers.

They also discussed various programs and services of the Department which the institution and its employees can also avail.

During the orientation, Acebuque highlighted the purpose and benefits of implementing the Family Welfare Program in the establishment. She also discussed and explained its requirements as provided under Department Order No. 56-03 (Rationalizing the Implementation of FWP in DOLE) wherein establishments employing more than 200 employees are mandated to organize a FWC.

In response, Rev. Melvin M. Mangana, the hospital’s administrator agreed that the Family Welfare Program will help build a harmonious working relationship between and among employers and employees in the workplace.

Rev. Mangana also highlighted one of the dimensions of the FWP which is Income Generation/Livelihood/Cooperative. He suggested that as a startup, employees of the Capiz Emmanuel Hospital can venture into mushroom cultivation, a project which he had personally started in his hometown in Janiuay, Iloilo.

Rev. Mangana together with the employees expressed their commitment to support the Family Welfare Program. They also vowed to implement its various dimensions to improve worker-management relations as a key to workplace productivity.
