Capiz cops set unity walk, pact signing

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Philippine National Police (PNP) here is ready for the peace covenant signing by local candidates in Capiz on Jan 13, 2019.

Information Officer Donna Asmod of the Capiz Police Provincial Office said the peace covenant signing is a joint effort of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), PNP, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and Armed Forces of the Philippines.

“This is to ensure a secure and fair elections (SAFE) 2019,” she said.

For provincial and Roxas City candidates, the event will start with a unity walk at 6:30 a.m. from the provincial capitol to the Roxas City Metropolitan Cathedral.

“A Holy Mass will be offered at 7:30 a.m. while the covenant signing will be at 8:30 a.m.,” she said, adding that the media, members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and other stakeholders were also invited to the activity.

Asmod said all the municipalities will also have the same activity on the same date.

On the other hand, Capiz COMELEC Information Officer Ruthche Calixterio said all the candidates have signed the integrity pledge or peace covenant before the COMELEC Officer upon filing of their Certificate of Candidacy.

Calixterio lauded the PNP-initiated event so that the public could also witness the candidates’ pledge for free, orderly, honest, peaceful and credible elections in May this year.

Calixterio also calls on local candidates to join this covenant signing activity. (PIA-Capiz)
