Capiz cops collar 14 ‘wanted persons’ in a week

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police here arrested 14 wanted persons after a week of operations.

Police Colonel Jerome Afuyog, Jr., acting director of the Capiz Provincial Police Office (CPPO), said the arrests were made on February 19 to 25, 2023.

CPPO records also indicated that 14 unlicensed firearms were either surrendered, confiscated, or turned over to the police.

Three persons were also arrested for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

On the other hand, police have been intensifying the campaign against illegal fishing and drugs.

Recently, P401,200 worth of illegal drugs were recovered in drug buy-bust operations.

Also, 31 individuals were arrested for alleged illegal fishing while P1.8 million worth of fishing paraphernalia were confiscated in 6 operations.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old farmer who is wanted for child abuse surrendered to the Jamindan police Tuesday afternoon.

Juanito Aram Firtaliza Jr., 50, of Barangay Sto. Rosario, Jamindan is wanted for violation of RA 7610 (Special Protection Against Child Abuse and Discrimination Exploitation Act).

Regional Trial Court Branch 21 Judge Rommel L. Leonor of RTC in Mambusao, Capiz issued the arrest warrant against Firtaliza on Feb. 27, 2023.

The court recommended a P80,000 bail for his temporary liberty.
