ROXAS CITY – The PNP in Capiz province built three new houses as part of its BAHAYNIHAN or “Bahay at Kabuhayan Nila Handog Namin” program.
Colonel Julio Gustilo Jr., Capiz Police Provincial Office director, said BAHAYNIHAN program is part of the “Adopt a Family” program of the PNP.
It has enlivened the bayanihan spirit of Capizeños and has become an Emerging Best Practice of police officers in Capiz.
“Bahaynihan” project, which aims to help the homeless and poorest families in Capiz, was conceptualized by Gustilo, with the help of staff officers who felt the need to help the poor amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic crisis.
“This Bahaynihan project is an added initiative to what the Capiz PNP has been doing like the Adoption of Indigent Families or ‘Kapwa ko, Sagot ko’ which has already more than 600 recipients and the ‘Libre Sakay’ initiative which is also still ongoing,” Gustilo said.
The project has built houses in the towns of Pontevedra, Sigma, and Roxas City.
Also nearing completion are houses in the towns of Mambusao and Dumarao.
Recently, the CPPO has started construction of more houses in the towns of Dao, Pilar, Jamindan and Maayon.
Gustilo stressed that each police station should have at least one beneficiary for the housing program.
