BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental earned P2,054,638.86 from sales of the Procurement Service Depot in 2017 and 2018.

PSD Operations Group OIC-Director Ariel Cunanan turned over the check to Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Friday during the blessing of the new PSD office at Cottage Road, Barangay 9 here.

Local government units, national government agencies, state universities and colleges, as well as government-owned and -controlled corporations and their subsidiaries are among the clients of Procurement Service, which has a mission “to ensure that government clients acquire quality products at the best prices, at the right time, all the time.”

The PSD of Negros Occidental building was constructed after the demolition of the Provincial Administration Center to pave the way for the construction of a high-rise PAC multi-stories building.

The prices of office supplies, equipment and janitorial, among others, is less 12 percent, compared to the actual price, Cunanan said.

The savings to be generated can be utilized by the provincial government for its various programs and activities, he further said.

The first and only PS depot in Visayas was established in 2004 in Negros Occidental through the effort of the late Governor Joseph Marañon, who implemented the electronic procurement system.

The PS depot is co-managed by the provincial government of Negros Occidental and the Procurement Service Office of the Department of Budget and Management.
