Canelo Alvarez versus Jermall Charlo. Fight fans, what do you think?

After news of Mexican boxing superstar Alvarez moving up to cruiserweight to challenge the champion Ilunga Makabu for the title, ESPN’s boxing reporter Mike Coppinger said that Charlo is the newest challenger in ousting him as the world’s top pound-for-pound fighter.

“I’m not so sure that Canelo will be fighting at cruiserweight or against Makabu. I’m hearing that it’s much more likely that he’s going to fight Jermall Charlo on Cinco de Mayo. There are talks right now for that fight,” said Coppinger during the ESPN’s State of Boxing.

Charlo is the current World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion and is undefeated in his professional career with an impressive 32 wins, zero losses, and 22 knockouts.

Meanwhile, Alvarez made history as boxing’s first undisputed super middleweight champion when he knocked out challenger Caleb Plant last November.

Alvarez now holds all of the belts in the 168-pound division and has been called out by Charlo several times to make the middleweight clash happen.

However, during his last fight, Charlo slammed Alvarez that he is already tired of chasing somebody that doesn’t want to fight him but still called him out after beating Juan Macias Montiel.

Both camps are yet to air their sides regarding Coppinger’s recent news about the mega-fight whether it will happen on Cinco de Mayo or not.
