Calinog Taekwondo athletes rule 3rd district CDSA Meet

The prized taekwondo athletes of Calinog together with their coaches (CTA)

The Calinog jins dominated the 3rd district’s 2019 Congressional District Sports Association (CDSA) Meet Taekwondo event held at Cabatuan, Iloilo City.

21 students carried the banner of the Calinog Taekwondo Association (CTA) and all impressed in the prized Sports Association Meet.

In the secondary Kyorugi category for girls, Feri Carmel Perez clinched the gold medal in the fin weight division, Gregmay Yanna Aurelli Penalosa also got the gold medal in the welterweight division, while Joeline Mae Franco had silver in the flyweight division.

For the boys, Seth Hendrik Porquez, and Julius Nicholai Gustilo both got gold medals in the fin weight and featherweight divisions, respectively.

In the elementary Kyorugi event, Felix Ace Perez was the champion for the 144-150 cm division, Alyza Grace Ladines got the silver medal while Clark James Salvador got bronze in the 152-160 cm division, Gregorio III Peñalosa and Ann Gwyneth Castro reached the quarterfinals.

During the Poomsae secondary, Markei Lorraine Garrido clinched bronze in the mixed pair category together with Jhan Nathaniel Gustilo, while the quarterfinalists for individual A were Angel Grace Cerbas and Prince JM Lucero.

The elementary Poomsae team of Nino Chriss Catamin, Khillian Zahred Mena, and Anton John Palmes nabbed the bronze medal while for the girls, the team composed of Trishley Ann Flores, Rezelle Ann Pareno, and April Joy Franco made it to the quarterfinals.

For the individual category, Anton John Palmes got bronze in individual A while Flores and Franco were quarterfinalists in individual A and B, respectively.

The mixed pair tandem of Parreño and Mena garnered the team a bronze medal, Louis Paul Nobleza served as head coach of the talented kids from Calinog.
