ROXAS CITY, Capiz—A 43-year-old businessman was shot dead by two unidentified persons Tuesday evening inside his carwash shop at Brgy. Poblacion Ilawod, Panay, Capiz.

Charles Bofill was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at St. Anthony College Hospital here.

Investigation by the Panay Municipal Police Station indicated that one of the suspects went inside the carwash shop at about 8 pm where Bofill was sitting on a chair.

The suspect was carrying an unidentified caliber of firearm and shot the victim.

According to the victim’s 15-year-old daughter, she saw her father lying on the ground with gunshot wounds in the chest and blood oozing from his head.

She said the two suspects in black short pants fled on board a black motorcycle.

Police Lieutenant Francisco Umiten, Panay police chief, said they already have a person of interest in the case.

Police are eyeing two angles, but Umiten did not elaborate.

Umiten said they are checking CCTV footages in areas where the suspects may have passed by.

According to Bofill’s wife, she could not ascertain the motive for the killing of her husband. She said her husband had not been linked to illegal activities like drugs.

The victim is the chief village police or tanod in their barangay.

According to kagawad Regie Albarda, Bofill was a good person and had no bad records or misdeeds in the barangay.

“I was shocked and surprised upon hearing the news that he was shot dead. That chief tanod is a soft spoken and friendly person”, he said.
