Bureau of the Treasury launches first financial literacy application FiLi

The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr), in line with its advocacy for financial literacy and inclusion, has developed FiLi, a financial literacy web application for Filipino investors.

“FiLi hopes to streamline the process of starting, planning, and managing one’s personal financial journey as a readily available tool to retail investors,” said National Treasurer Rosalia V. De Leon.

The application features five functionalities:

-First, a Risk Tolerance Calculator that determines a user’s risk tolerance level.

-Second, a Cash Flow Tracker that visualizes and projects a user’s cash flows, as well as determines funds available for investment.

-Third, a Portfolio Recommender that determines an optimal investment strategy given investible funds and the risk tolerance score. This feature also allows users to tweak their portfolio based on their own asset preferences as well as the assets that suit their risk score.

-Fourth, a Portfolio Simulator determines the projected portfolio value and portfolio returns based on the allocation of the specific selected assets that the user wishes to invest in.

-Lastly, an Investor Education section allows users to learn more about the basics of personal finance, investment risk, budgeting, and portfolio diversification.

As a financial literacy initiative of the BTr’s Risk Analytics and Strategy (RAS) team, the FiLi Team, spearheaded by OIC Paul Allado, consists of RAS personnel Patti Agabin,

Lance Lim, Elise Relucio, and Mico Santos.

In addition, RAS interns from the BS Management Engineering program of the Ateneo de Manila University, namely Joey Argayoso, Azequiel Del Luna, Ryan Fernando, Juan Carlos Kiunisala, and Adrian Ong, contributed to the development of the web application.

The team also received assistance from the Systems Development and Systems Administration Divisions of the BTr.
