Buenavista LCRO dominates 33rd CRM quiz bee

CRM Quiz competition among the five MCRO staff of Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, Jordan, Buenavista, and Sibunag.

A member of the Buenavista Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) made her colleagues proud as she won for the second time in the Civil Registration Month (CRM) Provincial Quiz Bee held during the Opening Ceremony in Buenavista, Guimaras.

Robyn Lois C. Gaylan of Buenavista LCRO bested her fellow contestants – Michael C. Esprago of Jordan LCRO and Roda R. Gamilong of Sibunag LCRO – in the 33rd CRM Provincial Quiz Bee Contest conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office in partnership with the Civil Registrar’s Association of Guimaras (CRAG) on Feb 2, 2023.

Esprago got second place, while Gamilong ranked third, and the other two contestants Marites G. Laud of Nueva Valencia MCRO and Joy A. Tabor of MCRO San Lorenzo got the consolation prizes.

The top 3 winners were given certificates of recognition with corresponding cash prizes of Php3,000, Php2,000 and Php1,000, respectively, while the other two participants received certificates of participation and consolation prizes of Php500 each.

“Gaylan will represent the Province of Guimaras at the regional level quiz bee competition, one of the regional activities commemorating the 33rd CRM,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.

Losare recalled that Gaylan won first place in the 31st CRM in 2021 provincial and regional level, in which she represented Western Visayas at the national level a year after, wherein she made herself until the 3rd round of the contest.

Esprago, on the other hand, won last year during the 32nd CRM at the provincial and regional level, in which Gaylan came in second. Guimaras defeated other provincial contestants of Region 6, Losare said.

The quiz bee contest aimed to test the level of awareness and readiness of the LCRO staff in answering queries of clients regarding civil registry documents processes, test their knowledge of statistics and official data of their municipality, including gender issues and concerns, as well as on current events.

“I am grateful for the annual support of the contestants who bravely accepted the challenge to represent their municipality in the Quiz Bee contest, unveiling their expertise in the field of Civil Registration,” Losare said.
