BPAT shot, stabbed dead in Pontevedra

ROXAS CITY, Capiz– A member of Barangay Peace Action Team (BPAT) was shot and stabbed to death by three suspects in a rumble Monday evening at Brgy. lntongcan Pontevedra, Capiz.

Melchor de Juan, 46, was declared dead on arrival at Bailan District Hospital also in Pontevedra town.

A knife was still sticking to his abdomen when he was brought by his relatives and bystanders to the hospital.

Police investigation indicated that while he and his brother James de Juan and friend Roque Baculinao were on their way home, a group of persons namely Dodoy Aguihap, an alias Johnny Aguihap, and a certain Bongbong Abarse also of lntongcan shouted at them.

But the three ignored and proceeded to the nearby BPAT station and asked for help.

A heated argument ensued between the two groups which eventually led to them exchanging fists.

De Juan was stabbed on the abdomen while the other suspects drew a gun and shot him on the head.

Not contented, one of them got a pipe and hit his head and body.

Two of the three suspects were arrested in a police follow-up operation. The two are presently confined at BDH due to injuries they sustained in the rumble.
