Board Performance of HEIs in Region VI

THE Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Criminology announced that a total of 7,998 out of 20,797 examinees, or 38.5%, passed the Criminologist Licensure Examination given in 12 testing centers in the country on June 2019. Rosanie Galve Bulacja of Bago City College in Bago City, Negros Occidental ranked number 3 on the national level.

In the Regional level, 10 criminology schools in Western Visayas out of 27, or 37%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national average; two (2) in Iloilo City, two (2) in Negros Occidental, two (2) in Iloilo, one (1) in Capiz, two (2) in Bacolod City and one (1) in Roxas City.

High performing Criminology schools from the Region with more than 50 examinees and above 50% passing average are University of Iloilo, Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology and West Visayas State University-Lambunao Campus. Four (4) out of 10 high performing criminology schools in the Region, or 40%, are state colleges and universities (SUCs).

The Region produced 750 passers out of 2,180 takers, or 34.4% passing percentage. This is lower than the national passing percentage. There were 1,461 repeaters who took the said examination and 719 first takers. Five (5) out of 10 first takers passed, while 2 out of 10 re-takers passed.

On the other hand, the PRC Board of Architecture announced that a total of 2,104 out of 3,172 examinees, or 66.33%, passed the Architect Licensure Examination given in 6 testing centers in the country in June 2019.

In the Regional level, Aklan State University – Kalibo Campus performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national level. The Region produced 109 passers out of 191 takers, or 57% passing percentage. This is lower than the national passing percentage. There were 58 repeaters who took the said examination and 133 first takers. Six (6) out of 10 first takers passed, while 4 out of 10 re-takers passed.

The PRC Board of Civil Engineering announced that a total of 3,372 out of 8,855 examinees nationwide, or 38%, passed in the Civil Engineers Licensure Examination given in 12 testing centers in the country in May 2019. Also, 1,602 out of 1,430, or 52.8%, of the first takers passed while 1,770 out of 5,783, or 30.6%, of the re-takers passed.

In the Regional level, 8 engineering schools in Western Visayas out of 15, or 53%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national average: two (2) in Iloilo City, one (1) in Iloilo, two (2) in Bacolod City, one (1) in Aklan, one (1) in Antique and one (1) in Negros Occidental.

The top three (3) high performing engineering schools from the Region with 30 or more examinees are Central Philippine University, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and University of San Agustin. Central Philippine University, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and University of San Agustin have forty-seven (47), thirty-four (34) and thirty-four (34) examinees respectively.

Seven (7) out of 8 high performing engineering schools, or 87.5%, are private colleges and universities. The Region produced 155 passers out of 422 takers, or 36.7% passing percentage. This is lower than that of the national passing percentage. There were 124 first takers and 298 repeaters who took the said examination. The first takers passing percentage is 46.77%. The repeaters passing percentage is 32.5%.

Starting academic year (AY) 2018-2019, the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) is a 4-year baccalaureate degree program. This helps attract more senior high school graduates to enroll in the said course. In this developing country, Civil Engineers are in demand in the next 5 years.
