BNHS bags NBTC reg’l crown after dispatching DCGNNHS

The recently concluded Guimaras qualifier finals of the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) League showed everybody that the island province got game!

Fans were treated to a thrilling finals game between Buenavista National High School and Dr. Catalina G. Nava NHS that went into overtime, 107-103, in one of the best games of the 2019 Guimaras-NBTC.

It was a game of runs, where BNHS managed to gain control in the early going by establishing an 8 point lead, 34-26.

DCGNNHS then imposed their dominance in the paint in a run of their own to quickly erase the 8-point and tie things up.

Fans from DCGNNHS were up on their feet in the last two minutes of the ball game, filling San Enrique, Buenavista, Guimaras with the loudest cheers as they enthusiastically anticipated the championship with their team up by 10, 90-80.

After a timeout, BNHS then pulled-off a “miraculous” run that forced the game into OT, completing a fierce late rally that stunned the whole DCGNNHS community.

With momentum on their side and a boost of confidence, the BNHS took over in the extra frame to cap off their historic finals run.

John Carlo Dofitas was named as player of the finals with his 21 big points which included multiple dagger threes.

With BNHS’ win, they qualify for the 2020 NBTC Regional Finals in Ibajay, Aklan.
