Major Jasson Belciña, Kalibo police chief, confirmed the arrest of Mark Archie Torrefiel around 12 p.m. of June 9 at Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.

Members of Kalibo Police Station led by Belciña, together with operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-National Capital Region Field Unit and personnel from the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) conducted continuous hot pursuit operations until Torrefiel was finally collared.

The 31-year-old suspect, a resident of Barangay Cajilo, Makato, Aklan, was named as suspect in the robbery with homicide case that happened June 6, 2022 inside RD Pawnshop branch on Mabini St. in Poblacion, Kalibo.

As of this writing, Torrefiel is now in the custody of CIDG-NRCFU for booking procedure and safekeeping.

Mayor-elect Juris Sucro of Kalibo, who earlier offered a P30,000 cash reward for Torrefiel’s arrest, was also with the team from Kalibo Municipal Police Station.

The security guard was accosted of killing 23-year-old Bonna Hercia Ambay, a resident of Pandan, Antique but was temporarily staying at a boarding house in New Buswang, Kalibo.

The victim sustained multiple stab injuries on the different parts of her body.

Belciña said the victim may have struggled based on the defense wounds found on her body.

Reports also pointed out that Ambay was not sexually molested.

Police recovered a pair of black slippers, blood-stained handcuffs and towel, a coin purse, a handbag, a knife, and a security guard’s long-sleeved uniform with the name Torrefiel MAR.

It was gathered that Torrefiel is facing two robbery cases in Pasig City. He was one of the suspects who robbed a student on Nov. 16, 2016 at Summerville in Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.

Torrefiel and his companion allegedly poked a knife on the student and slapped and threatened to kill the victim

He was also accused of theft in Batan, Aklan.
