Biz permits renewal in city extended to January 31

The Iloilo City government extended the deadline for the issuance of business permits to January 31, 2021 to accommodate applicants amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mayor Jerry Treñas said he requested the lloilo City council to extend the deadline for the issuance of business permits to avoid overcrowding in the city’s off-site centers and to ensure that all businesses in the metro will be accommodated.

“I requested the City Council for an extension just to make sure that people will not be crowding in our offsite centers and offsite malls and para mahatagan gid chansa ang tanan…Daw lain na gid man subong sa pandemic that is why the reason we are doing our best to accommodate everyone,” Treñas said via the Uswag Patrol program of the Iloilo City government.

Initially, the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) set the deadline for applications for business renewals to January 20.

As of January 15, 2021, a total of 5,294 business renewal permits were issued by the BPLO. The Iloilo City government targets to issue over 16,000 business renewal permits this year.

Off-site venues were established in the malls in the metro to provide more access to the business sector as well as to ensure that health protocols are observed,

Aside from the Iloilo City Hall, the off-site venues are located at the 3rd floor of Robinsons Place City Proper, 3rd floor of the Festive Mall, second floor at the north wing of SM City Iloilo, and second floor of the Gaisano Iloilo City Center. (ERS)
