BIR Roxas City conducts first tax contests

ROXAS City – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office (RDO) No. 72 conducted the first taxation competitions in the province, June 28, at the CityMall Commercial Center along Arnaldo Boulevard, here, as part of its tax awareness activities  to heighten public awareness on various revenue regulations, latest issuances and other taxation updates.

The contests include the Taxword Puzzle that was open to all residents of the province who are 18 years old and above, and a taxation quiz bowl dubbed “BUWIZard 2022″ that was participated in by the college students from various schools in the city.

BIR RDO No. 72 head Eralen De Aro said that all the questions asked during the contest were related to BIR and taxation.

John Khevin Limpoco of Brgy. Bolo, Roxas City bested 20 other contestants for the taxword puzzle competition. The other taxword puzzle winners were Salve Rosemarie Tianga from Solid Motors Distributor Inc. in Roxas Avenue, Roxas City as second placer while Gerrick Dave Dellava from Brgy. Tanque, Cathleen Joy Meneses from Brgy. Culasi and Virginia Hizon from San Lorenzo Village in Brgy Punta Tabuc, all in Roxas City, share as the third placers.

The quiz bowl first place winners were Kurt Rojie Dumangon and Bethany Hope Usison, senior and junior students of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, respectively, of St. Vincent College of Business and Accountancy while second placers were BS Accountancy juniors Rhea Villeza and Mia Besana of Capiz State University main Campus in Roxas City and the third placers were BS Accountancy seniors Louie Alosado and Sergian Grace Faustino of the Filamer Christian University.

The BIR gave the winners a plaque and token while the participating universities and colleges were given the Certificate of Recognition for their support to the activity.

“In behalf of all the Revenuers of the District Office, I expressed sincerest gratitude to all the participants, and different universities and colleges who took part on the tax quiz contest,” said De Aro, extending her appreciation also to the contest judges and the RDO officials and revenuers that compose the “Team Roxas Waswas” for the success of the contests.

The RDO has utilized its social media accounts to announce the competition and select the participants for the contests. (PIA)
