The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Guimaras District Engineering Office established an improved and convenient concrete road for wider accessibility and travel mobilization in neighboring barangays and towns in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras.

Barangays Cabalagnan and Salvacion in Nueva Valencia benefited from the

2.7-kilometer paved road that was funded by the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA) to the tune of P56.2 million.

Citing a report from District Engineer Rhodara Nuñal, DPWH 6 Regional Director Nerie D. Bueno said that the improved roadway aims to provide better road access for basic goods and services as well as a better travel experience for tourists.

“The concrete road ensures safe road access for transporting basic goods and services, as well as a better travel experience for tourists visiting various popular tourist destinations in Guimaras,” Bueno said.

The new road also provides an alternate route to Cabalagnan Fish Landing, the main drop-off point for fresh seafood. It also serves as a gateway to popular tourist destinations like Sun Sea Resort, Rumagangrang Beach Resort, and Yato Island.

“DPWH has always served as a bridge between people’s needs and leisure activities. This project improves access to public facilities such as public markets, schools, clinics, and other establishments for the people of Guimaras,” Bueno added. (DPWH-6)
