BCPO nets P94-M worth of illegal drugs in 2022

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized P94,454,992 worth of illegal drugs here from January to December 2022.

BCPO data indicated that a total of 13,890.44 grams of illegal drugs were confiscated from 511 police operations conducted in various areas here that led to the arrest of 594 drug personalities.

Of these personalities, 38 were high-value individuals, 538 were street-level individuals, six were minors, and others were newly-identified individuals.

A total of 811 cases were filed in court for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

With the intensified campaign of the BCPO against all forms of criminality, the city police force also arrested 179 most wanted persons and 489 other wanted persons charged with various offenses from 703 police operations.

In the campaign against loose firearms, the BCPO initiated 167 police operations, resulting in the apprehension of 28 violators and the confiscation of 84 small and homemade firearms.

For the “Oplan Katok” in relation to the information drive on the annual verification of firearms, 157 homemade, small firearms, and explosives were surrendered, while 42 firearms were deposited to the BCPO. Three others were recovered and turned over to the authorities.

For the anti-illegal gambling, 773 persons were apprehended from 226 police operations, and P122,029.25 bet money was confiscated.

Police Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir, BCPO director, commended the personnel for their accomplishments in the past year.

The relentless effort through police-initiated operations once again proved successful in the fight to lessen criminality, Martir said.
