Considered to be Efren “Bata” Reyes’ last hoorah as a PH representative in the Southeast Asian Games, “The Magician” is nearing his goal of clinching the gold medal in the one-cushion carom billiards event.

Asserting his mastery against his Thai foe during the quarterfinals, Reyes’ familiarity with the pool table intimidated his opponent, handing his opponent a crushing 100-37 beating.

Controlling the cue ball well with his timeless stroke, Reyes drubbed Punyawee Thongchai, 50-14, in the first half.

Reyes continued to roll in the second outing, picking up an early rhythm that enabled him to carom successively, sealing the match in a convincing win.

According to Reyes, he wasn’t satisfied with his performance despite the beating the Thai succumbed.

Disappointed with the lengthy match he played with his opponent, Reyes claimed that the carom game must be played fast-paced, and lengthy matches with this kind of event will be boring for the people.
